Surfers Beachside Holiday Apartments

Wishing I could write a great review however sadly not. An hour out of QLD during our 9 hour journey I was called and advised that I no longer had a room! Perfect timing, right on peak holiday season. Luckily we found one of the last rooms at the Hilton otherwise would have been homeless. Double the price, this was obviously not ideal. I’ve never experienced this and wouldn’t feel confident booking here ever again that’s for sure.

We have stayed here before pre covid. Was very disappointed with rooms this time. No pillow cases on pillows. Only had sheets on the bed. No hand towels, face washers or bath mat were provided. Had half a roll of toilet paper in our room upon arrival. Also 2 towels are provided and then you are expected to was your towels daily. Other guests were complaining about the same issues. Location was the only positive. 10 min walk to Cavill Ave and it is situated across the road from the beach.

It was most horrible experience of booking with surfer beachside holidays apartment. I got a call that booking was cancelled few hours before arriving at accommodation. Eventually they did not inform the booking agency that booking is cancelled and I have to spend few hours at the property to sort the matter the out. I heard from other travellers in lobby that rooms were horribly made and it was not worth staying in hotel. But for me it was most horrible experience to stay and sort things out for over 2 hours before it was confirmed that they cancelled at last minute. The receptionist did have audacity to offer different room or share why room was not available. I had to travel all the way from Sydney and experience the tragic experience I had to go through. I had to book something else at double price. Hope they get penalised for their behaviour. It was my first experience like this. I cannot explain in words the trauma I have to went through and recommend never to book again with at this accommodation. Eventually I got to know that they were overbooked and can cancel any confirmed booking. I had friends from overseas travelling with us and it does paint the experience in Australia in good way. It is shame they are operating like this and it spoil the image of australia also in bad way. There is no business sense and empathy displayed in talking while in a call for cancellation.
